Privacy

The short version

• We collect only what we need to run your PricePaws account.
• Your saved products and savings history are visible only to you.
• We don’t sell your information and we don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
• You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it at any time.

What we collect and why

Your email address, name, profile picture link and sign-in account ID

From the service you sign in with, so we can create your account and recognise you next time. Google shares your name, email address and picture; Microsoft your name and email address; Apple only your email address, or a private relay address if you choose Hide My Email. We never see or store your password for any of them.

Products you save and price matches you log

So we can show your favourites, your savings total and your achievements. You enter these yourself. We also show how many different people matched a product in the past day, once at least 5 have. That count never says who they were or what anyone saved.

Barcodes and searches

Sent to our server to look up prices. Searches are not linked to your account. To show popular searches, when a search on PricePaws names a brand, category or product in our catalogue (or is a close misspelling of one), or you browse a category, we add one to that name’s count for the day. We keep only that name, the date and the count, never your words or who searched. Your recent searches are kept only on your device, and you can clear them on the Search page.

IP address and browser details

Our service providers record these when you sign in and when you use the site, to keep the service working and secure. They are kept for those providers’ log retention periods.

We use your camera only while the scanner is open, and only inside your browser to read the barcode. No images or video leave your phone.

Who can see it

• You. Our database only returns your own records to your account.
• Our service providers, who store and run PricePaws for us: Supabase (database and sign-in) and Netlify (hosting). They process data on our behalf and can’t use it for their own purposes. Your information may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States.
• Google, Apple or Microsoft, whichever you sign in with: they know you signed in to PricePaws, under their own privacy policies. They don’t see your savings or searches.
• Us, only when needed to fix a problem or respond to a request from you.
• Nobody else, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Account details, saved products and savings history: until you delete your account.
• Daily search counts: these hold no personal information, so we keep them while PricePaws runs.
• Recent searches: on your device, until you clear them or your browser’s site data.
• Logs that include IP addresses: for our providers’ standard log retention periods, then deleted by them.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Links to retailers

When you open a retailer’s page from PricePaws, that retailer’s own privacy policy applies. Some links may be affiliate links, which means PricePaws may earn a small commission if you buy there. This never changes which prices we show or their order.

Each “Search other stores” button opens one store’s own search, with what you searched for (or the product’s name) in the web address. Only the store you tap gets it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing support@pricepaws.com.au. If you’re not happy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
